Rhomberg Sersa Australia (RSA) was engaged by ARTC to deliver the Bengalla Reconditioning and Culvert Replacement works. These projects were essential to improve track stability, enhance drainage performance, and extend the asset’s operational life.

Scope of Works

Bengalla Junction Reconditioning – 291.540km to 291.730km

  • 190m of full track formation reconditioning to improve track resilience
  • Removal and reinstatement of existing rail and sleepers
  • Installation of new structural fill, capping, and ballast to ARTC standards
  • Cess drainage upgrades to manage water runoff and minimise maintenance
  • Rail welding and stress-free temperature adjustments to maintain track integrity
  • Track resurfacing and certification in line with ARTC requirements
  • Replacement of new Reinforced Concrete Box Culvert (RCBCs) 
     

Bengalla Junction Reconditioning – 291.540km to 291.730k

  • Complete replacement of the existing culvert to improve drainage capacity
  • Installation of new reinforced concrete pipes (RCPs) and headwalls
  • Excavation, proof rolling, and geotechnical treatment for a stable formation
  • Placement of capping and structural layers to protect the rail formation
  • Track reinstatement, resurfacing, and certification ensuring compliance with ARTC specification
