Rhomberg Sersa Australia (RSA) was engaged by Sydney Trains to undertake the fabrication and installation of a new walkway to the down side of the Hawkesbury River Rail Bridge located just North of the township of Brooklyn, NSW. Works commenced on site in September 2023 with the approximately 800 meter walkway completed in January of 2025.

All fabrication was completed in house at our Horsley Park premises with installation out on site being undertaken by a consistent crew size of approximately 12 workers per day for the extent of the works.

Scope of Works

  • Measure and design of the new walkway to all 8 steel spans. Design incorporated the need to avoid clashes with the existing bridge structure at each of the span changes as much as possible.
  • Design, fabrication, and certification of a custom lifting frame and jib required for walkway installation. All material movements were completed via barges from the river below.
  • Fabrication, galvanising and paint of all the required steelwork.
  • Installation of the walkway to all spans which was undertaken during live train running.
