The RKR team carried out a ‘first of a kind’ project in the Sydney Trains network as part of last weekends possession. Working for Duratec Australia, the RKR team designed and constructed 6 modular prebuilt structures at their workshop at Emu Plains before transporting and installing them over the first span of the steel bridge at Cockle Creek. The structures will enable the existing bridge structure to be blasted & recoated by Duratec outside of planned track possessions. Rhomberg Rail Australia Pty Ltd, Overhead Wiring crew assisted with the works and the modules were moved down the track and placed into position by RKR designed & built hi rail equipment, a truly team effort after almost 18 months in the planning stages.
Well done to all involved, working on a challenging site, involving a huge structure and resulting with not one modification to the steelworks components required – a remarkable result all round.
